    Making a Community our Home

The Gala event for Unionville Home Society passed on Friday, May 13th. Since then, I have recently found some time to sit down, decompress, and write my thoughts.

Helping to provide the residents of UHS with new beds, was a great cause to be a part of. It was something I felt was supremely beneficial for the community, and as such, a great way for our company to get involved. It is inevitable that we all age; thus, when the time comes, we all want the best care possible. All the efforts that went into producing this Gala were a token of respect to the elderly that live in UHS

We were invited to participate in the event about four months before the Gala. Greg Donais and Barbara Taverner introduced us to Maria Dimson, the event co-ordinator, and Debra Cooper-Berger, the president. This was the catalyst that set everything into motion.

In the time allotted, we created all the branding, large photographic posters and ads, as well as three short films to be played at the event. I have the incredible UHS organization to thank for all their help in setting up the filming schedule and everything else. I also want to dedicate my thanks to my amazing team on this job; from Josh's filming, to Jennifer's editing, and Raymond's design skills, we successfully managed to pull through in each respective avenue. They really created the look and feel of the materials which made the whole evening a success.

Friday afternoon, just hours before the Gala, proved very hectic: we tested the videos and hung the last graphical elements with Greg Donais, from Cameron Advertising, a few hours prior to six. Once it was all in place, I was overcome with a great sense of relief and satisfaction.

The evening was filled with a great buzz as people filed into the gala. All the sponsors, organizers, and some residents of UHS gathered together and we got the chance to celebrate the evening with them. As the event began, I was given a great opportunity to present the first film. This was an honour as I am a first time contributor to the UHS charity event. I was overcome, and still am, with positive feelings that our contributions made an impact on the residents at UHS who deserve new beds.

At the end of the night as the entertainment unfolded, I knew we had participated in something very special. It was all in part to the wonderful residents and staff at Unionville Home society, Greg Donais from Cameron Advertising, Jon and Michelle from Stak Print, and my staff that made the whole evening incredible.

    Unionville Home Society Foundation

Today I have a topic that struck a chord with me. I was approached by long time clients Barb Taverner and Greg Donais. Greg's company was one of the first companies to give Silverpoint an account almost 15 years ago.

Barb, is part of a group in Unionville called Unionville Home Society Foundation. This group runs a facility that provides the elderly with housing and long-term care for older adult living in York Region.

They approached me about providing the graphics and some visuals for their annual gala that is held in Markham. I jumped at the chance to participate in a good cause and the opportunity to work with Greg and Barb again.

The event is on Friday, May 13th at Le Parc Conference Centre. For more information please visit uhs.on.ca
